water quality in delhi

Water purification is a process of removing unwanted  materials from the water line chemicals , biological containment suspended solid and gases from contaminated water .
Most of the water is disinfected for human consumption.
but due to human innovative power he have evolved various methods to  purify the water.

If you don't want to  do the hard work then you can also go to your near by market and get a water purifier

The water supplied by Delhi Municipal Authorities is of approx. 400 TDS, whereas the TDS of the boring water is approx. 800. And I understand that the RO process is the best for purification purposes. Now  If I am using RO for the water purification for drinking purposes, the TDS of the municipal water comes to approx. 25 with Ph 6.9 and that of the ground water to approx 45 . I have also seen an article from the Water Quality Association stating that there is no health hazards of drinking low tds Water Hence , my question is: which water is the best for drinking purposes.

What should be the tds level for drinking  water and  how much tds level will give good taste in water  ?
Tds level for drinking water:

United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) classifies Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) as a secondary contaminant. It is measured in milligrams per unit volume of water (mg/L) and also referred to as parts per million (ppm).
For drinking water, the maximum concentration level set by EPA is 500 mg/L.
World Health Organization (WHO) has prescribed an acceptable limit of 500 mg/L.

why all the purifier company say to use water between  20 to 100 tds.
Up to 500 mg/l will be ok for your health and it will not make you very sick but,
There are chances that you may get some dust, rust, bacteria and yellowishness in your water, If you want your water to taste good and have all the minerals required for the health standard then,Your water should have to be in between 20 to 100 tds. so if you want your family to be safe and healthy then you can use water purifier.

Which water purifier we should use and which will be good and cost effective

Purification stages in ro
1)  Mega bowl filter     (REMOVES :-RUST AND DUST )
 2)  Sediment filter
The important thing to keep in mind about sediment filters is that they reduce sediment. They don't remove chemicals or heavy metals or make the water taste or smell better. In general, sediment filters are rated by a "micron" number. This refers to the particle size that will be trapped by the filter.
3) Pre carbon filter
Carbon filtering is a method of filtering that uses a bed of activated carbon to remove contaminants and impurities, using chemical adsorption.
4) Post carbon filter
5) Antiscalent filter
6) Membrane filter
7) Uv (ultra violet )
8) UF (ultra filter )
9) MF (mineral filter )
