The 2017 Qatar diplomatic crisis began when several countries abruptly cut off diplomatic relations with Qatar in June 2017. These countries included Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Egypt. The severing of relations included withdrawing ambassadors, and imposing trade and travel bans
Saudi Arabia and other countries have criticized Al Jazeera and Qatar's relations with Iran, and accused Qatar of funding terrorist organizations. Qatar denied that it supports terrorism, given that it has assisted the United States in the War on Terror and the ongoing military intervention against ISIL.

GST
The Constitution (122nd) Amendment Bill comes up in RS, on the back of a broad political consensus and boosted by the ‘good wishes’ of the Congress, which holds the crucial cards on its passage.
Goods & Services Tax (GST) is an indirect tax throughout India to replace taxes levied by the central and state dia)|. Under GST, goods and services will be taxed at the following rates, 0%, 5%, 12%, 18%, 28%. There is a special rate of 0.25% on rough precious and semi-precious stones and 3% on gold.There will be additional cess on sin goods like cigarettes.
- GST is expected to be applicable from 1 July 2017.
Criticism On GST
- GST has been fixed for more than 1200 categories taxed at the following rates, 0%, 5%, 12%, 18%, 28%. There is a special rate of 0.25%.
- Over Half of The Item Taxed on 18% or 28% on gst.
- This Skew Violates the basic principal of tax collection; Lower the collection rates higher the compliance

Lynch mobs threaten this nation’s future
Last Saturday, a mob harassed four Muslim youths, all siblings, travelling on a train from Delhi to Mathura after a bit of Eid shopping, yanked off their skull caps, called them beef-eaters and anti-nationals and assaulted them with knives, resulting in the death of one and the hospitalisation of the rest.
Meanwhile, in West Bengal, three youths were beaten to death on the suspicion they were involved in smuggling cattle to Bangladesh. These events follow in the wake of a series of violent attacks by armed mobs on people suspected of storing beef or transporting cattle for slaughter.
